SkyTrac Obtains Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Robinson R22 and R44 Aircraft Types
- 17 June 2008
Kelowna, BC, Canada, June 17, 2008 - SkyTrac is pleased to announce that it has obtained an STC for the installation of its automated flight following and satellite communications equipment on the Robinson R22 and R44 aircraft types. The R22 (two-seat) and R44 (four-seat) are light, piston-driven helicopters known for their low acquisition and operating costs. These helicopters are popular across the globe and, in 2007, Robinson Helicopter Company manufactured 823 new R22 and R44 helicopters, the most civil helicopters ever produced in a single year by one company.
SkyTrac's STC for the R22/R44 is very broad in scope and covers all models listed in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transport Canada TCDS (Type Certificate Data Sheet). As such it covers all models operating in the US and Canada.
The R22 and R44 are the latest additions to SkyTrac's long and growing list of STCs, which includes popular rotary and fixed wing aircraft from Bell, Eurocopter, MBB, Sikorsky, Beechcraft, Raytheon and Agusta Westland.
"We continue to expend engineering resources on the procurement of STCs so that we can streamline the installation process for our customers," said Kathleen Wallace, CEO of SkyTrac. "We are certainly pleased to now have STCs for the Robinson R22 and R44 given the enormous popularity of these aircraft."
